Merry Christmas...

Whitehaven Beach, Whitsundays, Australia
Well, the Christmas festivities are all but over and what a strange time it was for us being away from Old Blighty. The "barbie on the beach" idea never came off as it has been pretty darn chilly in Melbourne and can you believe it, raining! With the weather being reminiscent of the UK, it made us feel a little more at home, I suppose.
Dan and I made the most of things though as you will see below. As soon as we landed in Melbourne from Ayers Rock, we went out and bought a $3 Christmas tree and some rather swanky purple tinsel (Dan's choice) in order to decorate our 7-bed room (fortunately there was only us in it). My Brother and his wife, Jim and Vicki, sent us some photos of Ruby and Finn so they adorned the "Christmas Corner" too. We managed to buy each other some token gifts and put those under the tree in true seasonal fashion.
Christmas Day was spent with some of our hostel buddies. We paid $15 for the privilege of preparing our own food - not quite sure what happened there - but it was a giggle and having been drinking since 11am and finishing off at Midnight, it's fair to say we were pretty merry and quite content with the way the day had panned out.
We're off to Sydney tomorrow (NYE) to party into the night and to watch the world-famous fireworks display at the Sydney Harbour Bridge. We'll update the blog again soon with tales from Oz and how NYE went off. Danny and I would like to wish you all a belated Merry Christmas and all the best for the New Year......
