Chicago - It's a Wonderful Town

We had a great time in Chicago. Finally, we arrive in a town with an abundance of bars! Lincoln Station in Lincoln Park was our local. The area, Lincoln Park, was lovely with loads of red brick buildings and tree-lined streets. Not sure what it is about Chicago but we just felt right at home. It's similar to New York and Boston in a number of ways but is definitely a place all of its own.

We did a lot of exploring, went to Millennium Park, visited Little Italy (would thoroughly recommend the restaurant Francesca's on Taylor) and went up the John Hancock building to the 96th floor where the Signature Lounge is to view the city and drink Mojitos. The best day out though was with the very lovely Susannah and Andy. Friends of a friend but by the end of the day and numerous beers, we were like long lost mates. They very kindly took us out for beers, grub and a baseball game - thanks to Susannah and Andy for their hospitality and Go Cubs!

*"Cloud Gate is British artist Anish Kapoor's first public outdoor work installed in the United States. The 110-ton elliptical sculpture is forged of a seamless series of highly polished stainless steel plates, which reflect the city's famous skyline and the clouds above. A 12-foot-high arch provides a "gate" to the concave chamber beneath the sculpture, inviting visitors to touch its mirror-like surface and see their image reflected back from a variety of perspectives. Inspired by liquid mercury, the sculpture is among the largest of its kind in the world, measuring 66-feet long by 33-feet high. Cloud Gate sits upon the At&T Plaza, which was made possible by a gift from AT&T. " - Courtesy of Millennium Park Chicago website. So, there you go.
